This blog post I found will open the eyes of all parents (special needs or not), to trust their own instincts about their children. It’s so easy to trust the “experts,” especially when you’re starting out, but you MUST listen to yourself and your child as well. What is working for your child, and what isn’t? What can be done to improve things?
You are your child’s only advocate. You can’t be silent, just to please everyone, and make things easier for the providers. Speak up if you have ideas or concerns. When you give your child a voice, your child can only benefit.
