We have been so busy with school and soccer commitments, I have to schedule family time to make sure it happens. Today was a beach day.
We went to a new beach the boys haven’t been to before. I went as a kid, and wanted my kids to have some of the same experiences there. What we found was more than I could have dreamed of.
The waves were very calm and shallow, allowing the boys to go in the water without being fearful.
Despite being in a metropolitan area, there was hardly anyone on the beach. It was so peaceful.
Being in a well-populated area, with lots of trash, I was surprised how many beautiful things were on the beach for us to find! There were lots of tiny Coquina-type clams covering the sand as far as we could see. It isn’t common to find whole shells, especially sand dollars, at a beach like this one. We found a ton of whole shells and sand dollars! Many of the sand dollars were ALIVE!
Here are our greatest finds.
We got to explore the nature center.
Then we started up our bonfire! It was cold and windy, but oh so fun!
Yummy hot dogs and s’mores all around.
The beautiful sun continuously morphed the colors of the sky as it set.
I’m so glad we did this, and hope we can do it again soon!
Is that what sand dollars look like on the bottom when they’re alive?
