Either my four-year-old is a total artist, or I’m just incredibly untalented. I’ve never been able to draw anything or create images in my mind. For the last year or so, my big guy has been creating some great images.
The first thing I remember, was his dinosaur. He went from scribbling and color-blocking to… a Tyrannosaurus Rex. He didn’t have any visual in front of him that he was copying. It just came from his head.
Since then, he’s done alligators, horses, and beautiful giraffes. Now, I know I couldn’t draw anything that even resembled a horse. How does he remember all the parts, placement, and proportions?
He has drawn Daddy and me on our wedding day, as he imagines us. He even draws forehead lines. Thanks, Pal! Nothing gets past him.
Recently, he drew Goofy and Mickey Mouse. I don’t know if I’ve seen anyone attempt them, without instruction or tracing. His brain holds so much detail. It’s amazing!
I think I’ve established that he didn’t get his talent from me, his stick-figured mother. But his daddy is a great artist! He takes great pictures and draws really well. He does all the imagery on the blog. It’ll be cool to see what my big guy will do with his inherited talent!
