I usually avoid projects like this, because I anticipate the boys fighting over it. They even asked if I got them each one, when I told them we would be doing this. Nope. This household only needs one gingerbread house. This may just have to be another learning experience.
To my delight, the squabbling was overshadowed by compromise, flexibility, and even… flattery. There were moments of self-disappointment, blaming, and feeling left out. Surprisingly, the kids were motivated enough to get through them and even throw in some positive attitude. I was quite impressed.
The night ended with a beautiful gingerbread house, happy memories, sweet anticipation, and some cute pictures.
Feeling the spirit of Christmas!
